35mm Film Canister Light Covers
In the comments about my Reuse CDs and Records post, William asked me what I could come up with for 35mm film canisters. Well, I tried lots of different things, but the one that turned out the best was to make covers for Christmas lights–specifically for Halloween.
The one on the left says, “BOO” for those of you (like my wife) that see an unintentional flower pattern. The one on the left is a Jack-o-Lantern-like face that is even more interesting because you can bend the plastic in ways no pumpkin has ever bent.
The instructions are: get a 35mm film canister, an Exacto knife, and go to town with creativity! (Another rule excluded from the previous is: do not loose fingers, toes, pieces of your ear or of anyone else’s. EXACTO AND/OR UTILITY KNIVES ARE VERY VERY VERY SHARP AND REQUIRE GREAT CARE AND SHOULD NOT BE USED BY CHILDREN–ESPECIALLY FOR THIS PROJECT. BE VERY CAREFUL, YOU CAN SLIP AND CUT YOUR FINGERS, HANDS, ETC.
Other than the above–VERY IMPORTANT WARNING–make a hole in the middle of the lid slightly smaller than the light you plan to cover and have fun!
I’d love to see what anyone comes up with, especially you, William, since you seem to have a stockpile of 35mm film containers.
