Disposeable Tupperware–Who Needs It?
Has anyone else been laughing at the commercials for disposable Tupperware? I’m laughing because, my family has had that stuff for years. We used to call them: used margarine and/or cool whip tubs.
Here’s how to make your own disposable Tupperware: (1) use some cool whip and/or margarine from a tub, (2) put the empty tub into the top rack of your dishwasher (if you have no dishwasher, you can wash it just as easily by hand), (3) use and reuse as often as you like.
The best part about these tubs is that when you give food to a neighbor in them, you don’t have to ask for the dishes back when they still havn’t found their way home 6 months later…

What’s funny is I have seen people sell these MYO tupperware for ten cent at yard sales. Actually, the funny part is how often they SELL.

You’ve GOT to be joking. People spend money for MYO (some people call it DIY) tupperware?
Really!!???

In our house, we call this Shmupperware.

@Joshua- Nope. Not kidding. Think this way…they pick up ten and pay a buck. But, if they bought ten of those tubs, full of the original product, even at 99 cent, it would still cost ten bucks.
Thrifty, no doubt. Plus, the original owner was doing some Junk Creation, creating a dollar out of ten things we’d normally think of a junk. ;-)

Barb–is there a story behind dubbing the reused stuff “shmupperware?”
Julie–I hadn’t realized that there were people that *don’t* hoard the old tubs and needed to actually buy them later…

I think someone asked if I had any Tupperware. I just said, “Tupperware, shmupperware…” and handed over a reused plastic tub.

I take my old containers to church. Then whenever we have a dinner at church they always get used when people want to take leftovers home. The problem is, I’m about the only one that does this and we run out frequently. I have 4 more containers to take with me tomorrow night though.

That is a very good idea! I think I’ve seen that sort of thing at church, too. I hadn’t remembered before you mentioned it, though.
