“Dump Queen”–’Nuf Said
This post is based on a post from August 2nd issue of Janesville ’s Gazette Extra in an article titled: ‘Dump queen’ finds treasure where others put their trash.
Personally, I find this lady inspiring. (Not to mention, this “Janesville” place seems to allow browsers–wooohooo!) She knows when she can’t use something, but when she throws it out, she brings back something that someone else threw out and uses it instead–she has a net wast of zero.
To quote the article:
Zelda has a rule: If she takes something to the dump, she takes something from it. She’ll either figure a way to reuse it herself, give it to a friend or take it to Goodwill.
I took a quick count of all the stuff I threw out just today when I cleaned out my car–let’s just say I’d have to pick out small things at the dump if I wanted to catch up on my thrown away stuff and still have room to take the things home…
By the by, has anyone ever actually taken a count of how many/much/etc things they throw out in a day? (If so, feel free to post the number–or the closest approximation you are comfortable sharing with the rest of us–in the comments) It has got to be a high number, even for the worst pack-rats among us (in other words–if you put “2,” expect to be teased a bit).
