Glove Making–Did you ever wonder how?
This weekend I am featuring a site that helped me make my own work gloves. It took me a while to find a decent how-to site for this, so I hope you all can use it!
The main site is called vintagesewing.info, but what I am focusing on today (and Monday with my version…are we sensing a pattern here?) are Eunice Close’s instructions on how to make your own gloves by creating your own glove pattern. The picture at the top of the post came directly from their/her site. Monday, I’ll talk about my own modifications and challenges.
I was impressed because Close’s article was the only one that really discussed how and where to position the thumb hole and gave diagrams explaining how to create the thumb of the glove.
I also used her instructions to design my own glove pattern–though mine was for fingerless gloves (not really fingerless, but short, like biker gloves). I also cheated and made a flat pattern for my hands and then used appropriately thick spacers, so I didn’t follow all of her instructions, but the ones I used were exactly what I needed.
Let me know how you feel about them.

Great site for good glove patterning! I’ve been looking for something like this for some time. Thanks.
