Keyboard Wallet–A Second Look

Look #2 at My Wallet

My Tape Wallet

Well, as you can see above, the wallet really is see-through. (Nice halo effect from my desk lamp, eh?) I followed zieak’s instructions from the “Instructables” website I previewed this last weekend. I did make a few modifications, however. I also found out a better size for the credit card pockets.(I just can’t leave “well enough” alone, can I?)

The first thing I changed about the wallet was the number of credit card pockets–how many people only need two places to put cards? I mean, even if you consolidated, a driver’s license and debit card, car insurance card and medical card would take up at least two pockets. So, if you have any cards other than that (ie: Smith’s card, Library card, School card, etc–not to mention the 5 or 6 credit cards some people feel the need to carry) you will need more than one pocket for cards.

My version of the keyboard wallet has 4 pockets, although you can’t see the front ones in my pictures very well because they contain information I don’t want broadcasted to the world! These pockets were taped to the wallet in exactly the same way zieak’s taping instructions said to tape the inside pockets–except they are outside.

The third change I would make to zieak’s wallet are the size of the pockets themselves. His are short enough that the cards can slide out, but if cut the pocket pieces 1/2 inch shorter than the wallet section pieces, the pocket is long enough that the entire card is inside the pocket and doesn’t shift nearly so much as in zieak’s design.

The final change I made was to put a piece of tape around the edge of each pocket opening before taping it to the wallet–this makes it easier to find the opening and makes the pocket more durable.

Overall, this is a very unique idea (which in my book makes it a wonderful idea), though this wallet is certainly less durable than the standard leather type
