Men’s Shoelace Bracelet

Today, I’d like to show you a use for old shoelaces–provided they aren’t broken. The picture of the original idea (bottom)–the one I based my bracelet on–is from: an Instructables post titled: Para-strap Watchband).
To start, you ought to find a “snap buckle” from an old backpack–that’s where mine came from. I think mine was a bit too large–so be certain you are comfortable wearing whatever buckle you decide on.
Next, start your bracelet the same way as is shown in the bottom picture, above. The idea is to make alternating “half hitch” knots with either side of the four strands (always making the know around the middle two). Once I got to the length I wanted, I put the inside strands through the second part of the buckle, and tie the first part of a “square knot” between each inside knot and each outside. I then switch strands and tie the second part of the square knot between inside strands and outside–the knots actually do form a square if you do it this way, it makes a nice finish.
To finalize the end, cut the ends of the shoelace and singe the ends to make certain they do not fray.
Now, wear and enjoy.
