Metal Playstation Robot Bugs–Come Toward the Light!!
Harold Ilano has out-done almost any other website I’ve featured–he’s made a little robotic bug that follows light and he’s made it from old PlayStation units and spare parts. Welcome to our little club, Harold! (Now, repeat our motto: Junk is our friend.)
Harold’s post is particularly brief–but it has a cool video of his bug robot doing its thing. The post title is Light-detecting Insect Robot. He also gives some schematics and some directions on a site you can get to by clicking on his name after the post with the video (or by clicking here).
I am just so amazed that something like this can be made by someone at home. I thought you needed to be enrolled at or graduated from MIT to do weird science stuff like this–this just proves how wrong I am.
I particularly like this quote from the page you get to from the second link: “Some parts were from an old and disected Sony Playstation units. Scraps are good BEAM parts too, you know?!”
My answer is: “Yes, Harold, we, here at Junk Creation, really do know how good scrap parts can be…”
