Scrapbooking and Cardmaking with Old Stamps and Calendars
Earlier this month, one of my coworkers, Cindi, presented me with the beautiful card you see above. I was so impressed; I asked her if I could write about it on my blog. (and, yes, she said I could…so there.)
The ironic part of this particular how-to is that the calendar she glued to the front of the card used to be mine. I gave it to her because she likes old maps, and in turn, I got it back in a new and fitting way.
To make this card, first, gather all of your materials. This could be old calendars, stamps/envelopes, old clothes–the sky’s the limit! (Below is the envelope/stamp that Cindi used)
The process is simple from here out, but there are some basic things you could do. The easiest way to start is probably to choose a large image or section to cover the entire card and create a theme. In Cindi’s case, the theme is travel, so she added the stamp to indicate distance. Next, Cindi dipped into her store-bought goodies and pulled out a stylized definition of the word “dream” and a sticker that mentions reading.
Together, all of these gave me a very personalized card, congratulating me on acceptance to Graduate School in another state.
Thanks, Cindi!
As for the rest of us, I’ll keep you posted on new and cool junk-made stuff–you keep me informed!
