What is it about making something out of Junk?
I have been wondering how it is that we can stay motivated to make stuff from what is normally considered junk?
I have come up with a list of possible reasons why those of us who create from junk continue to create with junk.
Here’s my list:
- You’re naturally cheap or just can’t afford the new materials.
- You get a buzz from making things, so you have to use all kinds of materials–including “junk.”
- You just like getting messy.
- You love the challenge of reusing things in ways the original maker didn’t intend.
- You want to “save the planet.”
- You enjoy cutting parts off of cute, fuzzy, stuffed duckies. (see previous post, “”)
- You already go through dumpsters–you just need an excuse to appease your spouse. (If you think I’m joking…)
I’d love to see additions to my list–so let’s hear ‘em!

I think I’m all of those! Great list of reasons. Now, how about a list of ways to convince our spouses we are doing something productive?

I agree with Julie’s first comment, seems no one understands the drive for creativity!! Seems pointless to them……!

Ren, have you looked at my response to the need for a list of that type? I believe it was only a few posts later…
